I work with the cognitive behavioral approach first and foremost because
I believe in it and because this approach has proven itself time and again.
CBT therapy achieves results quickly!
My clients experience significant improvement during the initial
sessions.
When does one turn to therapy?
-
Mostly it is in times of crisis.
-
When one feels they cannot bear to suffer any longer
-
When one feels they are not functioning effectively in their life because of a persistent problem.
-
When one feels “stuck”, experiences stagnation and dissatisfaction in his professional and/ or personal life.
-
When one feels “confused” and lost and not sure what to do or where to turn.
What does CBT therapy offer?
This therapy is not meant to “change you” but rather to find solutions to
enable you to cope emotionally with the problem at hand and to function
more effectively.
In therapy the client receives solid support. He/she gets to look at the
problem from a different perspective and learns to deal with it applying
a different, more functional approach.
The therapy provides new solutions and answers for disturbing questions.
Initial relief is almost immediate. But the strategy and the purpose of the
therapy is to give the client the cognitive and emotional tools to cope with
the problems now and in the future.
How does CBT Work ?
Working with thoughts is the basis of the cognitive therapy.
We know that thoughts, feelings and behavior are linked to each other.
In order to modify feelings and/or behavior, we need to change the way we think.
Creating a different way of thinking is a key to improving our emotional state
and our ability to function better, more effectively in life.
This change in how we think is achieved within a relatively short period of
time. First, we work to identify automatic destructive thoughts and then we
learn to replace them with consistent positive thinking, enabling positive
emotions to emerge and to free the client from obstacles preventing
effective functioning.
CBT Therapy can be divided into three stages:
-
We must first assess how working with your thought affects you.
-
Practice employing different thoughts.
-
When a new way of thinking becomes second nature, you begin to feel
real improvement and a long term solution emerges.
